Nitric Acid Pumps
An acid and an oxidiser in one fluid — passivation is your friend until concentration or temperature breaks it.
The properties that drive the choice
| Hazard profile | oxidising |
|---|---|
| Concentration band in our data | 0–65% |
| In one line | Oxidizing acid — stainless steels perform well; titanium also excellent. Avoid copper-bearing alloys and organics contamination. |
Which pump families serve it
At a reference duty (20 °C, 10 m³/h, 30 m). Your duty point may move the answer — run it through the tool below; the full report adds the alternatives worth quoting in parallel.
| Primary answer | End-Suction Centrifugal Pump (ANSI B73.1) | Clean or lightly contaminated fluids, moderate duty, flows ~2–400 m³/h |
|---|---|---|
| Typical wetted materials | Stainless Steel 304, Stainless Steel 316L, PVDF, Duplex 2205, PTFE / FEP lined, Hastelloy C-276, Titanium Gr.2 | |
Where the boundaries sit
- Passivating alloys work by oxide film — anything that strips the film (heat, dilution, chlorides) restarts attack
- Oxidising service excludes organic linings in some bands; check the rating at your exact concentration
- Fumes are part of the hazard profile; containment is a specification item
