Methanol Pumps
Flammable, toxic and thirsty for the wrong elastomer — the containment decision leads.
The properties that drive the choice
| Hazard profile | flammable, toxic |
|---|---|
| Concentration band in our data | any (not banded) |
| In one line | Flammable + toxic — zero-leakage (magnetic/canned) drive strongly recommended; check elastomer compatibility (use PTFE/FFKM seals). |
Which pump families serve it
At a reference duty (20 °C, 10 m³/h, 30 m). Your duty point may move the answer — run it through the tool below; the full report adds the alternatives worth quoting in parallel.
| Primary answer | Magnetic Drive Centrifugal Pump (Metallic, sealless) | Toxic, flammable, expensive or environmentally sensitive fluids — zero leakage |
|---|---|---|
| Typical wetted materials | Stainless Steel 304, Stainless Steel 316L | |
Where the boundaries sit
- Toxic and flammable: leakage is a safety event, so containment is the first selection gate
- Methanol attacks some elastomers and plastics; the soft parts need the rating check, not only the metal
- Water content changes both the chemistry and the fire behaviour — state the grade
