Clean Water Pumps
The reference duty — non-corrosive, well-behaved, and still capable of being mis-specified.
The properties that drive the choice
| Hazard profile | none of note |
|---|---|
| Concentration band in our data | any (not banded) |
| In one line | Non-corrosive baseline duty. |
Which pump families serve it
At a reference duty (20 °C, 10 m³/h, 30 m). Your duty point may move the answer — run it through the tool below; the full report adds the alternatives worth quoting in parallel.
| Primary answer | End-Suction Centrifugal Pump (ANSI B73.1) | Clean or lightly contaminated fluids, moderate duty, flows ~2–400 m³/h |
|---|---|---|
| Typical wetted materials | Cast Iron, Carbon Steel, Polypropylene (PP), Bronze, Stainless Steel 304, Stainless Steel 316L, PVDF, PTFE / FEP lined | |
Where the boundaries sit
- 'Water' is a spectrum: deionised water is corrosive in its own way, and hardness changes scaling behaviour
- The cheapest correct answer is usually a standard end-suction pump — the trap is over-specification
- Temperature is the main variable left; hot water past 100 °C is a pressure-rating conversation
