Engineering pre-selection for chemical duty pumps
APPLICATION

Refinery & petrochemical — hot process duty

Sustained hot hydrocarbon duty — API 610 construction territory, seal plans and all.

The typical duty

FluidDiesel / Fuel Oil
Temperature280 °C
Flow120 m³/h
Head140 m
Viscosity≈ 3 cP

What the selector says at this duty

At this typical duty the tool routes to engineering review: A total head of 140 m is beyond our standard recommendation range for single-stage end-suction pumps (our supplier data covers standard builds to 130 m). Delivered special builds reach ~275 m — that is a specification conversation, not a guess: we forward your duty to the manufacturers who size these for a living.

What to watch

  • Between 175 °C and 400 °C the API class takes over from ANSI
  • The data sheet is filled jointly with the manufacturer — that is normal
