PUMP FAMILY
Progressing Cavity Pump
The viscous-duty answer — steady, low-shear flow that centrifugal hydraulics cannot deliver past the 500 cP line.
Gentle, pulse-free handling of viscous or shear-sensitive media.
The envelope
| Recommended temperature | ≤ 120 °C |
|---|---|
| Delivered-evidence ceiling | ~150 °C (special builds) |
| Sealing | Single mechanical seal (or packing), per media |
| Design basis | API 676 (rotary positive displacement) |
Where it is used
- Viscous fluids: polymers, resins, pastes, sludges, glycerin-class duties
- Slurries and shear-sensitive fluids where a gentle, pulsation-free flow matters
- Metered transfer where the flow must stay steady against changing back-pressure
Where it stops
- The stator is a wearing part by design — dry running destroys it in seconds
- Abrasive service wears both rotor and stator; the spare-parts plan is part of the selection
- High speeds on viscous duty heat the stator; speed selection is a thermal decision
Documented service reaches about 150 °C on suitable stator compounds; the recommendation zone ends at 120 °C.
